Amy Butler's Anna Tunic

Weekend Sewing project was this cute tunic. I bought the pattern in January but didn't really get inspired to start on it till last week. I lined it with a baby blue polyester lining material. I love the silky-like slide of the lining when putting on the tunic. The exterior fabric is a soft blue gaberdine knit I bought at Hancocks. I used pearl-esque shank buttons (4) on the back yoke. The fabric flower turned out 'ok' but it would definitely take a little more practice to get the circle right and fit the gathers better. I used a scrap of blue stripe for the flower that is left from a retro-70's style blouse I made a few weeks ago. More on the blouse later, I'm still looking for cuff links to wear on the French Cuffs. Big white 70's collar and white french cuffs; too groovy! Any suggestions on cuff link sources or how to make them is greatly appreciated! But this post is about the Anna Tunic which I love and enjoyed making. I wore it out last night (our anniversary) with a fabulous re-sale find; great fitting side zip knit pants. (ooh.. fit like a glove and all those yoga workouts are so worth it!) I really scored big on the designer pants yesterday afternoon. $3.99 resale. I will definitely be making the Anna Tunic again. something less dressy in maybe a summer pique?

The Eagle Has Landed...

I have posted this youtube video of the launch and landing on the moon 40 years ago. I hope everyone enjoys it. If you are too young to remember it, then it is especially dedicated to you. My memory of that day is faint, I was almost 5 years old and I recall hearing the radio announcer talking about it as we were riding in the car. I have no idea where we were going, just that it was hot and cars in those days, for the most part did not have a/c. My family lived in Houston Texas in a little brick house in a typical neighborhood for the 60's. We had a yellow Ford Fairlane.
