Roses

I am going to organize my garden and reduce the variety of everything I threw in it last year. It was a good first year and I learned a lot about what will grow in an 8x30 bed. My plan for this year is simple; a few herbs, daisies and roses. I debated about eliminating all edibles but really would miss the herbs. I am still looking for a bay laurel tree. When we sold the old house I had to move away and leave it. So here are pics from last fall when my garden was still green and wild and a pic from last month after we pulled up the old wire fence and the ‘boxes’. I put down huge flat rocks for walking on and have ordered more roses. So far the rose list includes: Abraham Darby (David Austin Rose), Don Juan, Zephirine Drouhin, Peace, Tropicana, Iceberg & Queen Elizabeth. I have four more to set out today; Welcome Home, Tuscan Sun, Cecile Brunner & Mardi Gras. Three climbers I think are enough, (for now).

The Eagle Has Landed...

I have posted this youtube video of the launch and landing on the moon 40 years ago. I hope everyone enjoys it. If you are too young to remember it, then it is especially dedicated to you. My memory of that day is faint, I was almost 5 years old and I recall hearing the radio announcer talking about it as we were riding in the car. I have no idea where we were going, just that it was hot and cars in those days, for the most part did not have a/c. My family lived in Houston Texas in a little brick house in a typical neighborhood for the 60's. We had a yellow Ford Fairlane.
